Organ Recital.
DURHAM STREET WESLEYAN CHUBCH. At the Durham street "Wesleyan Church, last evening, Mr B. Trist SeareH gave an organ recital, which attracted a large ntmber of persons. The programme waa a most libeial one, taking iuat two hours for its execution. It had been bo arranged as to embrace examples of numerous classes of composition, from the massive harcnoaies of Handel and the solemn strains of Chopin's "Funeral March" to the light and quaint airs of "gavottes" by Bach, and Gliu-k. It need not be said that each and all were played in masterly style, the characteristics of the ' several composers being cart-fully brought out by the judicious use 'of appropriate stops, and the execution displaying great manipulative skill. The composers whose works had been Releeted from were (ia. addition to those already mentioned) Romberg, Haj;dn, Batista, Mendelssohn, Jordan, Beethoven, aud Hesse — a goodly lift. The organ numbers wvj> supplemented by vocal eeluctionb — Dr Staiuer's anthem, "Hosanna in the Highest;" Sir A.Sullivan's autbem, "I will sing of Thy power," very well Bung by the choir ; and Gounod's "The Guardian Angel/' sweetly given by a Eoprano ; and Mendelssohn's " But trie Lord is rnin<iful of His own," ' the recitative and »ir of which were, perhaps, the gein of the evening. A collection, which amounted to £1 5s lid, was made in aid of the choir funds. The Doxolegy closed the proceedings.
