AT LYITELTON. A fire occurred in Port yesterday e r m »1 s> ™ hen * h °ase, the property of ll « L T. M'lntosh, was completely ffnJted by the flamns. The Brigade were quickly on the spot with their reel and hose, tot could only manage to stop the place bemg totally destroyed, as the fire had such a hold before the water wa* got on. The origin of the fire is rather »* mystery, as the occupants, Mr W. T. Taylor ofnnf Tl 7 'a v * been awa y from the place since Saturday last, and it is stated that the fire was started by eome children playing with matches in a hedge dose by. The owner of the house had a quantity of furniture stored in the upper story, aU of" which was destroyed.
