At Port Lyttelton.

Yesterday was observed as a close holiday in port as far as the places of business were concerned, but the Union steamers in port were discharging and loading their cargoes. A large number of people arrived by the trains from Cbristchurch, and were taken to the various bays in the steam launches. The E Battery of Artillery were also in Lyttelton, and did their yearly shot and shell practice, the first by-the-way, which they have had with their new guns. Some very fair shooting was done. They were accompanied by the members of the N Batttry, who entertained them in the evening at a smoke concert in the Colonists' Hall.
