STEIEE OF "UNEMPLOYED." COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. DUNEDIN, March 22. Jessie Carrick, seventeen years of age, a domestic servant, dropped down dead in Stuart street on Saturday night. The unemployed have struck because the City Council wanted to pay them 4s por day. Tho Council afterwards offered to pay an extra sixpence, pending their communicating with the Government, but the men refused to accept this. Peter Sil7ersten has been committed for trial on the charge of criminally assaulting his daughter. It appears that this conduct has been going on for three years. Witnesses expressed doubt as to prisoner** sanity.
