KAIAPOI.
Anniversary Day at Kaiapoi was taken advantage of by the Wesleyans and Presbyterians to give the children belonging to their respective Sunday Schools their annual treat. The procession through the town was of most imposing length, every available vehicle being borrowed for the ' occasion. The Eifle company's brass band I headed the Wesleyan detachment, who I went up to Mr E. Evans" Farm. The 1 others selected a paddock at St Helena, kindly lent by Mr Eoss. As it was a most j beautiful day, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I The steam launch made two trips to the I bar, and on both occasions was well j patronised. Arrangements are being made - for a moonlight excursion on the Waimakai riri river, to start from Kaiapoi about 8 p.m. on Saturday. The steam launch : Diamond is chartered for the occasion, and ; as a great many have promised to go, a : most enjoyable trip is anticipated. We believe the Eifle corps band will be in attendance.
