The Severed Hand.
— -• — It has not yet been decided when the inquest shall be held on the hand found yesterday at Taylor's Mistake. The member, it may be stated, is a left hand, and haa a ring on one of the fingers. It haa apparently not been in the water for any great length of time. EVIDENCE. The ring, a gold strap and buckle, has been identified as one which was worn by Mr A. E. Howarde, who was supposed to have been drowned at Sumner on Oct. 11. It also bears his initials, " A.H." This afternoon the hand was inspected by several medical gentlemen, representing Mr Howarde's relatives and the various Life Assurance offices in whioh he was insured. As an inquest, or at all events, a further examination, will be held, it would be premature to give their opinions, but it may be said that these are not unanimous.
