LYTTELTON.
Christmas commenced at a very early hour at Lyttelton this year, and the festivities were carried rn with a "vigour of quite an old time character. • Besides the Carol services at the Holy Trinity Church, the Lyttelton Juvenile Oddfellows' Band played in London street during the evening, and through the night the Lyttelton Brass Band played suitable Christmas hymns and carols at various points in the town. Many of the shops in both Norwich Quay and London street were decorated with Native shrubs and evergreens, while the ships and smaller craft in harbour flew every available piece of bunting, giving the wharves a very gay appearance. The grand weather of the earlier part of the day brought ajuumber of visitors into Port, a proportion or whom availed themselves of the opportunity to take a run in Messrs Agar and Roberts' launch to Governor's Bay.
