HEAVY THUNDERSTORM.

SUICIDE. DUNEDIN, Dec. 22. A violent thunder shower was experienced about noon to-day. Tho rain poured down in torrents for nearly half an hour, and the street channels were like rivers. At the foot of some of the hills premises were flooded, but no serious damage is reported. While on duty in King ttreet on Saturday night. Constable M'Lauchlin found a man lying drunk on the footpath in such a helpless state as to render his removal to the hospital necessary. He proved to be William Baylies, fish-hawker and billposter, a man of intemperate habits. He is still unconscious, and is not expected to recover. . The body of James Anderson, who jumped into the Clutha river at Clyde on Dec. 5, has been found below the Teviot, 30 or 40 miles down. A verdict of suicide by drowning was returned.
