Wesleyan Conference.

♦ THIS PAY. MORNING SITTING. The Conference resumed at 9.30 a.m. NEXT GENERAL CONFERENCE. It was resolved that the next General Conference should be held in May, 1888, in Melbourne. BOOK OP DISCIPLINE. The revisicn of the Book of Discipline ■was resumed, and completed, the Confe rence agreeing to adopt the book now revised as conta i ning the laws by which the Australasian Wesleyan Methodist is governed, with the understanding that the legislation of the present Conference be inserted thereini The following Committee was appointed to draw up a formal resolution in accordance with the above : — The Eevs J. C. Symons, "W. P. Wells. W. Morley, J. B. Waterhouse, J. B. Stepheneon, and Mr Buddie. That the name of the book be " Laws and Regulations of the Australasian Wesleyan Methodist Church"; that the book, should be stereotyped ; that the Rev J. C. ! Symons and W. P. Wells should be re- ' quested to see the work through the press ; that a first edition of 5000 copies should fee printed; that they should be sold at certain prices named, according to the binding; that the book with all rights conJiected therewith should be the property

•of the General Conference ; that the expenses of the book, excepting .£4B 10a already expended, which could fairly be chargeable on the book, be charged to the General Conference expenses — the balance would be about JE6O ; that a short preface to the book should be prepared by the Committee already named; and that there should be "running headings." i The cordial thanks of the Conference j were presented to the Committee in Mcl- ; bourne, who have had this subject before ; them during the last three years, and especially to the Revs J. C. Symons and W. P. Wt-lls. ) Representatives from the various Conferences spoke eulogistically of the care and trouble bestowed on the work. i The Rev W. P. Wells said the bulk of the thanks was due to Mr Bymons, who, he hoped, would take it. The Rev J. C. Symons detailed the . labour he had devoted to the book, and ' gave credit to the Committee for the : careful attention they had given to every j suggestion from the Conferences. : The Rev J. Watsford suggested that the ! Committee should consider how the services ; of Mr Symons nould be recognised. j Dr Kelynack agreed with the suggestion, and moved — "That an honorarium be given to the brethren who have prepared •; this work." j The Rev J. C. Symons distinctly declined ! to accept any honorarium. j j ADDRESS TO THE BRITISH CONFERENCE. i The Rev George Martin read the draft • of the address of the General Conference ! i to the British Conference. Dr Waugh moved the adoption of the ' address. | Dr Kelynack seconded the motion, and ! ' suggested the addition of an allusion to the ! Fijian jubilee. ( Several suggestions of various kinds were | made, and the address was adopted. J SETTLEMENT OF CHURCH PROPERTT. j The Rev H. Bull brought up the report j of the Committee on this subject. ,- The Rev John Gardiner read the report and recommendations of the Property Com- •; mittee of , the New South Wales and Queensland Conference. The Rev George Lane read the resolutions \ agreed to by that Conference. j The Rev J. C. Symons and the Rev ; J. B. Stephenson spoke of the condition of '■ the Church Property in Victoria, Tas- ; mania, and South Australia. The Rev W. Morley read the report from j the New Zealand Conference. i The Rev J. C. Symons gave a digest of a ; new " model deed " which he had been requested to draft. The Conference adjourned just before noon till 9.30 a.m. to-morrow (Saturday).
