« [Per Pbess Association.] HOKITIKA, June 11. John O'Donoghue, who'was foimd guilty of the murder of James Gifford at Maori Creek, was executed this morning. He made a long rambling statement, denying his guilt. On the scaffold he exclaimed, in a loud voice, three times, " God save Ireland." Death was instantaneous.
