MUNICIPAL RETRENCHMENT.
INVERCARGILL, June 11. The Town Council last night reduced the salary of the Clerk (who also acts as Treasurer and Valuer) from .£4OO a year to .£350. Eeductions were also made in the salaries of the Inspector of Nuisances, the Foreman of Works, and the Engineer.
