[SPECIAL TO THB BTAB.] DUNEDIN, Nov. 30. At a publio meeting last evening re the Otago central railway, the member for Dunedin Oentral aaid in his opinion it was time that Otago and Canterbury, haviog so many interests in common, should let the northorn gentleman know that however well intentioned they might be, and many of them wero well intentioned, they (the Northern members) were ignorant of the requirements of this -portion of New Zealand. It was time that Otngo and Canterbury went shoulder to shoulder and claimed what they were entitled to ; aud he trusted that before the next general eleotion a Southern Defence League would be established that would make itself felt throughout tbe Colony.
