M'Donald, M.ELB.'s, arrived here to-night, with the object of challenging the two beet placers at lawn teams, in Dunedin, to a match, It will come off ou Saturday. At the Chamber of Commerce meeting the Chairman read statistic* showing that last month 32 vessels of 6349 tons discharged at Duntdin wharves, and 35 of 6394 tonß loaded there. The total tonnage at Port; Chalmers during tho same period was 29,463 tons inward, and 27,557 outward. Mr Donald Beiel was elected Chamber of Commerce representative on the Harbour Board to-day. CCbis seat has been going a.beggiog for some time, but at length » vigorous effort was made to get a good man, with the result above abated. An inquest was held to-day on Snow, whose body was picked up In the harbour on Saturday. He was twenty years old, and had been married a short time. It was shown that he suffered from his head, and had to be taken from school on account of his studies affecting it. On the night of his disappearance, he bad been working at his employer's books. He was very excited, and complained about his head. He eaid, " I'hero ar* pains in my head wbioh stupefy mo," and talked incoherently. Ha, went outside, saying he would be back in two or three minute*, but was never seen again. He left his books open on his desk.
