LICENSING COURT.

« OHBI3TOHUJROH SOUTH-WE3T. The quarterly meeting of the Licensing Committee for Cbristohuroh South-weßfc was held in the City Counoil Chambers to-day at noon; present— Mr John Anderson (Chair* man), Messrs GK Booth, B. Strutters, and J. D. Macpheraon. Inspector Pender appeared' on behalf of the police, and submitted a report upon the licensed homes in the district. The British Hotel.— The Clerk called attention to the fact that the permit to Mrs Berti expired to-day, and no application for a renewal had been Bent in. Mr Maude suggested that the meeting might adjourn bo as to allow Mrs Berti to Bend in an application. The Committee deoided to wait for a few | minutes, as it would be a pity that any over- ] sight should deprive Mrs Berti of her license. White Swan.— Mr Maude appeared and stated that Mrs Connelly had put in a notice for a temporary transfer to Bobert Deareley, but five days later had filed her petition in bankruptcy. r ihe Committee had power, under section 101, to authorise her trustee to hold the license until a transfer oould be made to Bobert Dearsley, who was now aoting as agent for the trustee. He made an application accordingly. The Chairman said the Committee had deoided to adjourn the application till Thursday, Sept. 6. The British Hotel. — Mr Lougbrey now I appeared imd apologised for bis late appearance. He had been ignorant of where the Court w»s Bitting, and bad been to the Beiident Magistrate's Court, the Provincial Council Chambers, &o. He applied for the extension of the license till next quarterly meeting. Meantime he was taking steps to have Mrs Berti declared owner. The Golden Fleeoe.— The Committee examined Mr Lambert's plans for the new hotel, and approved of them ; making some few suggestions as to details. This conclndod the basinets.
