Thb nbws announced in onr Seoond Edition of yesterday,of the arrival of the British Queen* cargo of frozen meat in exoellent condition, and its sale at an average of 7d per pound, must be set against the gloomy forebodings inspired by the Custom's and Savings Banks returns. It is evident that the frozen meat trade will soon become one of the most profitable industries of the Colony ; and it oannot be long before Us fuller development brings to this district a return of prosperity. The market is practically boundless, and aa long bb the meat is sent Home in good con-* dition, and of the quality so far attained, there need be no fear of any cessation in the demand for our New Zealand mutton. The meat itself is far more wholesome than the English mutton, whioh is made unhealthily fat by artificial feeding. Those who have onoe been accustomed to meat fed on natural pasture, will never again relish the insipid produoe of artificial feeding.
