The Kestrel Ashore at Lyttelton.
The ketch Kestrel, timber laden, from the Bays, mined itajs while beating up the harbour last night, at about 1 a m., and ran on to the breakwater, at the southern end of the Gladstone Pier, where the remained firmly grounded. She veisel is apparently built of hard-wood. She is of about 20 tons register, and is owned by Messrs M'Olatchie and M'lntosh. At the time the Teasel went ashore, it was blowing a gale froii the southwest, the wind continuing in force this morning. As the tide risss, it is possible that the ketoh may break up. The master (Mr Taylor) and the hands got safely ashore, and the tag Lyttelton went out at about 2 a.m. An attempt was mode to get the Kestrel off, but the tow-liae parted, and the effort bad for the time being to be abandoned. This morning the Keitrel's cargo of timber was got out of her, and the crew re* covered their effects.
