[Beoeived July 20, at 1 p.m.] LONDON, July 19. The cargo of frozen meat consisting of 5769 carcases in the steamship British Queen, from Lyttelton, May 31, baa arrived in excellent condition. A portion was placed on the market to* flay, and realised an average of 7d per Ib.
MELBOURNE, July 20. The preliminary hearing of the charge against Henry Winter, for fraudulent fcankruptc.y and perjury, was concluded to-day, when prisoner was committed for trial at the ensuing sessions.
WELLINGTON, Jtjxt 20. . The Dunedin Gaol Commission resumed work this morning. .Two prisoners have been examined. She evidence bo far is unimportant, with the exception that one pruoner •tated that he often taw warders drunk, and that on one oooation Bergeant Watsen was so drunk that he let half the prisoners out of their cells.
