WORKING MEN'S CLUB.

■ o The annual mooting of the members of the Ghristchurch Working Men's Glut) was held at eight o'clock laßt evening. There was a largo attendance of members, nnd the President, Mr J. M. Thompson, occupied the chair. The Ohairman stated that the Registrar of Friendly Societies had signified hie approval of un alteration in the rules with reference to members of the Club being eligible for election ob auditors. The eleotion of auditors was proceeded with. Messrs Neil Black, Foster, nnd Leahy were proposed as candidates for the office. A. show of hands waß taken, with the roßultthat Messrs Neil Black and B. J. Leahy were declared duly elected auditors for the ensuing six months. The Ohairman read a letter from the Ohristohuroh Bonevolent Association, suggesting the attendance, in a body, of tho member* of the Club Rt one of: the churches on the proposed " Oharity Bunday," Oot. 16, Mr Noil Bl*ok proposed that tho letter be received, and it be left to the Committee to take action in the matter. The motion was seconded. Mr Graham proposed, a 9 an amendmont— « " That the meeting decide the question at* once." Mr Pozzi eupeestod that a special general meeting ehonla ba called to consider tno tub* jeet. Mr Graham's amendment was lost on the voices. . The original motion was tbon put and cirried. Ihe mooting then proceedod to the eleotion of officers. Messrs Neil Black, H. Martin, L. Pozri, and J, Jeffrey were appointed perutineere to superintend the election, which was conducted by ballot. During the evening several cartoons were to bo seen caricaturing the various candidates for the Presidency and other oiliceß. Those contained pointed allusions whioh were nodoubt well understood by those for whom they were intended. 'Jhe result of the election of officers for the eusuiog twelve months was announced aa follows :— President, Mr J. M. Thompson 5 Vice President, Mr W. Garrardj Treasurer, Mr 0. F. Money ; Committee, Messrs W. Ellis, T. Batcholor, H. B. Hobbs, T. Gent, 0. Lightband and J. Scott. The successful und unsuccessful candidates addressed the meeting, thanking those who hud voted for them, and promising to do their best during the coming your. Mr L. Pozzi proposed a vote of thanks to th ■> retiring officers, whioh was seconded by Mr George and carried by acclamation, and tho meeting dosed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
