ANALYSIS OF TEA.
A good deal of attention hsi recently been directed to the question of the purity of the tea imported to these Colonies, and in other cities, some very flagrant oases of adulteration have beeu revealed by the work of the analyst. It is pleasing, therefore, to be enabled to give the following very satisfactory report from Professor Bickerton on a number of samples of tea, procured at various shops, and submitted to him for examination : — " Roport on the analysis of 12 samples of toa received from Mr T. Stephenson : — " Colour of tea— All black. "Surface coatings — Sil in all cases. "Magnetic particles — Sil in all cases. " Taste of infusion — Normal in all cases. " Aroma of infusion — Normal in all cases. " Spurious leaves— Nil in all cases.
" The above analyses prove tho whole of these teas to be genuine and free from adulteration. "A. "VV. BICKEBTON, " Public Analyst."
