DUNEDIN, August 25. . At the inquest upon the body of the man Campbell, found in Ros9' right-of-way, moat contradictory evidence was given. A boy Baid he saw deceased in the right-of-way at halfpast seven on Monday night. He was then aßleep, and two mon wore looking at him, who moved away as the boy approached, but returned again. The boy went to get a policeman, but before getting one returned to make sure the man was still there, and found he had gone. He spoke to a woman named "Irish Kate," who Baid Dicks, a coloured man, had taken him into his house. Huff and Anderson were the two men referred to who said they were with Dicks, and took the man into the house, but finding his watch gone, only kept, him there ten minutes, and then put him back. He had only Is 6d on him. Dicks stated this also. A man named Winfield said he saw a man lying there after eleven as he passed gong home. On the contrary, Constable Millar said that at ten o'clock he looked down the right-of-way and saw n.vhing to attract attention, and at twelve o'clock Constables Millar and Sullivan B'-i.u they both went doira and saw nothing, x'he money deceased was known to have was accounted for all but £1 14 a, and the Coroner said there was little doubt the men who were witnesses got his money amongst them. Nothing is known as to the disappearance of his watch. The medical evidence showed that he died from exposure, and tho jury returned a verdict to that effect.
