ROAD BOARD.

HEAIHCOTE.

The above Board met on Friday last, at 10 a.m. ; present — Messrs F. Jones (Chairman), W. Atfcwood, J. O'Neill, end G. Dryden.— Me culvert to Mr Sandford's land. The Clerk was instructed to send Mr Sand ford copies of letters received some months since ; also, to request him to remove the obstructions in the aide channel opposite his gateway. — lie fence at Avonside. Consideration of "this matter was deferred for a full Board. — It was resolved to cut the fences on Slaughterhouse road, and charge ifc against tho occupiers. — Mr E. J. T. Ford interviewed tho Board re roads in Bradley. It waa resolved that, in view of tha financial position of the Board, they cannot undertake to pay half the cost of forming the Eiver Road ; they would arrange for the surplus atuff to be placed on it, and will, so far as lies in their power, arrange for the incoming Board to complete it. — Mr Stanley Edwards also saw the Board with regard to widening tho Hill's road, and handed :n letters from tho Trustees (late Sir J. C. Wilson and himself) offering to give half a chain on condition th*t the Board would fence and form it within three montha. It was rosolved to accept the offer of the land ; to widen the road on condition that the matter bo loft until the Board are in a position to do it. — An application was made tor tho footpath in Armagh street to ba lowered, tho owner of adjoining land paying tho cost. Agreed to. — The Clerk reported the receipts to ba £317 Oa Ud.-The following correspondence was read and e'ealfc with: — From Messrs M'Connel and others, usking for footpath on east side of road. The Board rogrotted that the finnncos would not allow of tho work being done. — From tho Druinago Board re Drain road. The Clerk to cull for tenders. — From Mr C. R. Blakiston re Matlock street. The Clerk to inform Mr Hay ward of the estimated cost of formation. — From Drainage Board re culver's on St John's and Dyer's roadu, and Lower Av^n road. The Clerk wua instructed to write re Lowor Avon road ; also to ask that tho piped in Stanmoro road might ba continued to Hereford street.— -From Mean's J. and A. Anderson re size of piles in bridqea. The Chairman reported that ho had seen tho piles and that ho could not recocmenr) any change. — From Mr B. Taafe re increase of Balary, as tho two bridges v/ori to be ercctocl instead. To bo referred to the terms of liia agreement. — From Barne, enclosing report of works at bricic^s. Received. — From Air W. J. Cole re BallV. road. '.t!i3 Clerk to reply. From Messrs Puiairet and other3 re Sfc Jumen' street, asking that it might be lowered.
