Sydney. The Echooner Beagle reports that Captain Murray and three of the crew of tho Lieta, cutter, were killed at Port Webber by Natives. Tho captain had traded with the Natives, and tho latter refusing to deliver tho copra sold he went to remonstrate. On leaving the chief's house he was fired at and killed. Two of the crew wero overpowered and also a Native who fled to the bush. The Beagle also reports that tho Marquis Da Bays' laat expedition had settled in an improved position on the coast of New Britain. Onlr three deaths had occurred amongst the colonists, who numbered 300. Government has made tho following decision in regard to the rewards for tho discovery of the Temora Goldfields : — Maloney'a party, £400 ; Murray and Ross' parties, each £150. The Bank of Ifow Zealand has transferred its business to promises recently purchased from tho Mutual Provident Society.
