BURGLARY.
About ten o'clock laßfc nighfc tho shop of Mr Samuel Stewart, which is parfc of his dwelling house, was broken into by the shutters and front window being smashed. Five gold watches and a gold brooch, which wore hanging in the window, valued at about £60, were stolen. The thieves decamped before they could be seen, but information was speedily given to the police. Aboufc ton minutes to 12 Constable Dougan, who was on duty in Oxford terrace west, near Montreal street, heard a woman calling for the police. He went round to tho back of Messrs Medley and Walker's premises, and found that the kitchen window of Mr Medley's house had been broken, and that threo coats hanging in the kitchen had been stolen. From what ho gathered ho went to an outhouse near at hand, and found threo men, apparently sleeping, in tho loffc. Ono of fche stolon coats was found near them, and ho arrested tho three on the charge of burglariously entering tho dwelling named. Aftor leaving the men at tho depot, he returned to fche premises, where he found a biscuit tin containing tho wafcches and brooch. The men were brought up at the Police Court this morning, and remanded till Monday.
