F., M.U. — A Bpecial district meeting of delegates from the North Canterbury Lodges waa held last evening to consider the queation of opening a new Lodgo at Beathcote, to be called tho " Prido of the Valley lodge." It waa decided that tho Lodge thould be opened by the District Officers on .rdhursday next, the visitors from Christohurch to proceed by the 6.30 p.m. train. Loyal Okanob Lodge, No. 22. — The. brethren of thia lodge held an Arch Purple meeting in the Leeston Town Hall on Wednesday evening last. There were aboufc 40 brethren preaent. Bro Lawrence occupied the ohair, and Bro Christie the vice-chair. Tour new membera were initiated, and after the Lodge had been closed, the company sat down to an excellent supper, catered by Bro M'Conkey. Mutpai. Ihpbovement Association. — f .The Sydenham Wealeyan Mutual Improvement Association held their firsb meeting on Wednesday evening, when a large number of members wore present. Thiß Association has -heen formed in connection with the Colombo road Church. The following are the officers -forthe enßuing year : — Rev J. S. Rishworth, President j Meaßra Elmalie and Smith, VicePresidents ; F. Hoddinot, Secretary ; W. Gahagan, Treaßurer. The buainesß for next week will be " Portfolio." Diocesan Sunday School Association. — The arrangements for the commemoration in this diocese of the centenary of fche establishment of Sunday Schoola are now far advanced, and there ia every promiae of the commemoration being a great Buccess. One great feature will bo the conversazione to be Seid in Bt. John's schoolroom on Wednesday, June 80. The Committee are now actively engaged on thb, and are working hard to make ifc an interesting item in the commemo ration programme. There will be addresses by the Bishop, the Dean, and Mr J. H. Twentyman ; mu?ic and refreahmenta throughout the evening ; and an exhibition of interesting objectß in Bcience and art. Mr landergan has kindly undertaken the direction of the muaic.
