A number of the unemployed hare loft for the Northern Gam fields. Mining Accident., ' A serious accident occurred at the Golden Pah mine, Coromandol. James Anderson, •underground oveweer, while overhauling the pump, fell about 40ft, breaking one leg and two ribs, and receiving other internal injuries. He was immediately removed to the Hospital. Arrived — Inglowood, from London, with 32 passengers, five bulls and one cow (Shorthorn)*. The stock arrived aafely. Threatening Weather. GEAHAMBTOWN, Deo. 24. The inquest on the fire in Pollen streot resulted in an open verdict, as there was no evidence to show how the lire originated. i The Alburnia. The Freemasons of Napier, instead of holding a banquot on St. John's Day, will attend church on Sunday, when each member is expected to put into the offertory: the guinea ordinarily spent on the dinner. The money is to be devoted to the Hospital. Righted. The schooner Enterprise was to-day righted and brought into harbour, much less damaged than was expected. Errors not Excepted. Thwraeh an error in a telegram, Mr Vo'llance*B Pin fire was not nominated for the Napier Handicap. The matter was laid before the Jockey Club Committee, when they decided that the nomination being made after the advertised time, and the original telegram not being addressed to the Secretary they could not receive it. Native Lands. The .£BO,OOO to be divided amongst the Omahu natnes for the land near Bangitiki will be distributed next month. ' Rusty. Bust has Bhown itself unmistakoably among the wheat crops at Patangata, which wera looking, very promising. The crops oh the property «f Mr J. Collins have been destroyed by it. NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 26. A Heavy Bankruptcy. A meeting of Mr Courtney'i creditors was held on Wednesday, when it vu decided to accept the deed of assignment fled. The liabilities shew— secured creditors, £30,096 j unsecured, £11,517. Pound Drowned. n A woman named Henrietta Esther M'Donald was found dead in tho Huatoki river yesterday naoming. It is supposed that the woman

The Jane Anderson. Captain Bendall, Secretary for the Underwriters, visited the scene of tho wreck of the k schooner Jane Anderson, at Manawatu Bar, this morning. A telegram from him states that should the weather moderate the vessel will be re-launched without having sustained any serious injury. Cricket. • The Wellington v.
