PUBLIC RECEPTION OF BISHOP REDWOOD.

The Eight Rev Dr Eedwood, Roman Catholic Bishop of Wellington, is expected to arrive at Christchurch to-morrow afternoon at half -past five o'clock. He will be met at the Railway Station by the various Roman Catholic Societies, and by other members of the congregation. A procession will be formed, ana his Lordship will be escorted from the Railway, via Manchester and !St Asaph streets, to the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Barbadoes street. A number of triumphal arches ore to be erected in the Church and its grounds, on which the following inscriptions will be placed :— " Weiborne/ 1 "Welcome Prince of the Church," w Cead mille failthe" " Quam sp'ciosi peUes vangelizantium" " Benedicius gui venitin jfiitiine Domini" "Sonus pastor animam 'ifortJi datpro ovibussuis" " Cognosco meat et cognoscunt me mccc: 1 As the Bishop enters' #he : Church the new organ will peal forth the ' accompaniment to Handel's Hallelujah 'GHortu; which a full choir will 'sing. c ßolemn Benediction of the Blessed Sacra- ; merit will, immediately follow, the usual singing being accompanied by the harmonium. Aadresßes from the Societies and from the 'congregation are then to be presented to; his Lordship, and to these he will probably make formal replies. The choir will next Bing the Te Deum, accompanied by the organ, and, as the Bishop leaves the Church, a march, com-'posed-specially for the occasion by Professor Hughes, will be played on the same instrument. Dr Redwood will afterwards receive at the lately-erected Presbytery the Presidents, Vice-Presidents, and Secretaries of the .'Catholic Societies. It is desired that 'the public should thorougnly understand that the demonstration of to-morrow is one of welcome only, and has nob the slightest political significance. Though the organ is to be used as above-mentioned, it is to be noticed that the purely-religious : portions of to-morrow's servioe will be accompanied by the harmonium.

On Sunday the formal dedication of tho new organ to divine worship will take place as previously announced.
