LOJAL BOARD OF HEALTH,
At the termination of Iho busiress of the Drainage Board the usual fortnightly meeting of the above Board was held ; present — Messrs Harman (Cha.rniao), Tanked, Duncan, and Blakuton. inspector's bepobt. The Inspector submitted the following report : — " 1, I have inspected the locality indicated in the sketch plan furnished by Mr Knight, in which lie applies for the Board's permission to establish a fellmongery and tannery. The house marked on the plan is tho nearest to the aite, and the occupier greatly objects to that business being carried on in that locality. " 2. Owing to complaints having been nude that the milk being supplied to the Lunatic Asylum wa9 bad in qualify, I caused a sample to be analysed by the G-overnment Analyst. He tested the sample, and found it to be unadulterated, nnd of good quality. " 3. SoTeral residents in Worcester street efst have complained of the bad condition of the side channels, arising from stagnant house drainage. I have seen the Clerk of the Heathcote Koad Board on the subject, with a view to some improvement; if possible, in the gradients of the channel. "2. Tho side channel on the west side of Caledonian road is in very foul condition. The acting Medical Officer thinks it should be reported to the Board without delay. " 5. The only case of typhoid fever reported sinoo Sept 6, has occurred on premises fronting on a side channel at Papanui. In this channel the . Avon Koad Board resolved upon laying concrete. This necessary work has not yet been dono. "6. Upon the instructions of the Chairman, I have inspected certain premises in the district, and have reported thereon." Eelative to clause 1 of the report it was decided to refuse the application for a fellmoDgery, as objections had been raised against it. Clauses 2 and 3 were approved. "With reference to clause 4, it was decided to ask the Eoad Board to clean out the channel in question. It wa3 resolved to eeud tho Avon Eoad Board a copy of clause 5. Clause 6 was approved. IJI3PECTIOX BEPOBTB. Tho Chairman said the Inspector had made some very satisfactory and complete reports of his inspections, which it was only fair to him to acknowledge. He (the Chairman) was dealing very carefully with these reports submitted to him. LINCOLN BOAD. At tho request of Mr Duncan the Chairman promised to confer with the Engineer of the Drainage Board as to the provision to be made for the drainage from the Lunatic Asylum. COBBESPONDEXCE. A letter was read from Dr Nedwill, consenting to act as Health Officer until the office was permanently filled. A letter was road from Messrs Walker and other?, complaining of the stench arising from the side channels in Worcester street oast. Tho clerk was instructed to lay this matter beforo tho Heathcote Road Board. Tha Board then adjourned.
