SPRINGSTON.
Thi3 district hithorto has beon without any benefit society whatever, but owing to the energy o£ Mr Mager of tho Springston Hotel, Messrs Williams and Harries were appointed delegates, and a meeting of the inhabitants was called to see whether thero was a probability of forming a Lodge of tho Ancient Order of Druids. On account of calling tho meeting on Saturday night, there was not as good an attendance as was expected. Brother Williams A.D., was unanimously voted to tho chair, and explained the objects of the meeting. Ho called upon Brother Harriss to read tho rules, &c, of tho Order, and the special inducements held out at the present time to intending members. Brother Harrias's efforts wore evidently not in vain, for tho Society may be said to bo fairly started. It was proposed by Mr Haddock, und seconded by Mr Magor — "That Mr A. Parish act as Secretary pro tern." Carried. Proposed by Mr Haddock, seconded by Mr A. Pariah — "That Mr Mager bo appointed Treasurer pro tern." A Committee of four was then appointed to wait on Dr Guthrie, to see upon what terms he would undertake the duties of surgeon, to report at next mooting. It was unanimously agreed to call the lodge the Ethclbert Lodge. The meeting, after tho usual harmony, adjourned until November 5, at 7.30.
