Mails close at the Chiof Post Office for tho following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under :— Tuesday, Oct. 21. For Northern Porta of Now Zealand, per Weilington, at 1.50pm.; lato fee- letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. Wednesday, Oct. 22. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Southern Cross, at 9.45 a.m. ; late foe letters, 10 a.m. j guard's van, 10.30 ft. in. train. For United Kingdom, Continent of Earope, via Brindisi and Southampton (for correspondence addro?Eod by either of these routes only), India, China, Africa, Australian Colonies, and Otago, per Arawata, as follows :— Ordinary letters, 1 p.m.; lato fee letters, 145 p.m. ; books and newspapers, 12 noon ; money orders, 12 noon ; registered letters, 12 noon ; guard's vat, 2,40 p.m. train. For Nelson, Westport, and Oroymouth, per Maori, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee lottew, 2.10 p.m.; guard's van, 2 10 p.m. train. For Eaikoura and Wellington, per Huia, at 4,45 p.m. ; guard's van must not bo used Tho mail via Brindisi will be due in London On Doc. 15, and vis Southampton on Deo. 22. NoTK.-On»nd after Tuesday, Oct. 21, mails will close at Chribtohurch for Upper Waiau Ferry and Haniner Plains each Tuesday at 6 a.m., and arrive at Christchurch from these offices each Thursday at B p.m.
