PROFESSOR JONAS' GHOST.
This is the title of an entertainment to bo opened to the public afc tho Oddfellows' Hall fchis evening. Last nighfc Professor Jonas, the proprietor, invited a number of citizens to a private seance, or whafc may moro aptly be termed a rehearsal. Tho principal feature in tho entertainment i3 the exhibition of spectral forms, though thero is alao connected with ifc a variety company who fill in tho intervals with songs and dances. As the performance last night wa3 a private one it is not our intention here to go infco details. A general criticism will be moro in place when the company have appeared in public. We may, however, say that the entertainment of lasfc night was a very pleasing one, such as every ono could thoroughly enjoy. The illusions were cleverly done, and would do credit to Messrs Pepper and To bin. Mixing iip of real figures witli phantoms is cleverly arranged, and is astonishing and amusing. Thia stylo of entertainment is entirely new to Christchurch, and Uie novelty alone should make ifc attractive.
