/ The followiug telegram was received this inorning by His Worahip the Mayor, from fcho Mayor of Hokitika, I "A large meeting was held here last I evening, to insist on the construction of tho Eaßt and West Coast Railway. Will you kindly take steps to co operate in this im- J portont matter." During the day a reply was sent saying that everything was being done in this direction that could be at present. The various candidates had been interrogated on this , question when addressing their constituents, land all wore favourable to tbo work being learned out. His Worship would heartily leo-operate in taking any further steps that Vight bo required.
