SONNYSIDE V. EASTERN CLUB.

A match was played at Sunnyside on Saturday between the Eastern Club and a Fifteen supposed to represent the locality, but which in reality was a very scratch one. The ground was altogether too slippery for good play, and the game was almost wholly confined to the forwards. The sides, contrary to expectation, turned out to bo very equally matched, and though tho Easterns mado a sudden rush at the beginning of the third spell, which secured them a touchdown, this was the only score. They gained no other advantage, and the local men forced the ball over their goal line more than once. A young player named Mayne made himßelf especially noticeable on the Eastern side by his smart and effective running, and T. Smith did a large share of the hard work in tho other team.
