TIMARU.
I There was an unusually heavy sea running in the roadstead yesterday, and no communication, could be had with the vi ssels lying out at anchor. In the evening the sea had gone down very much, and no damage was done to the shipping. No injury was done to the breakwater, but the Government Landing Service on the north side of it, was underminded by the sea, and the sea end of the new portion which contains over 2000 casks of the Harbjur Board's cement fell into the water, carrying over 100 casks of cement witli it. A Javge gang of men under the direction of the Engineer had been employed from early morning removing the cement, or the loss would have been considerable. The damaged cement was at. onr:c used in the manufacture of concrete blocks, so that very little was lost. The boat-ways at the Government service are disabled, and one of the boats has been rendered useless. A large quuntity of the reclaimed land has been washed away, and the sea is now undermining Messrs Royse, Stead, and Co.'s grain buying office. There was no wind blowing on shore.
