KAIAPOI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meoting of this Council was ' held at the Borough Council Chambers, Kaiapoi, on Tuesday last ; present — His Worship ' the Mayor, ana Councillors Mathows, May, Pinching, Burnip, and Fraser. CORRESPONDENCE. Letters were read from, Mr F. Bosustow, asking permission to lay a pipe from the artesian well in Cookson's street to his premises. From Mr W. Gk Meddings, stating that orders had been given to remove the telegraph post complained of by the Council. From the Mayor of Christahurch, asking the Oounoil to co-operato with the City Council in trying to get the next session of Parliament held in Ohristchurch. ARTESIAN AVELL. Resolved, on tho motion of Councillor Frasor, seconded by Councillor Pinching — " That Mr Bosustow's application bo granted subject to the usual terms." PARLIAMENT IN OHRISTOIITTROn. Councillor Pinching proposed, and Councillor May seconded — " That this Council will heartily eo-oporato with tho City Council in endeavouring to havo the next session of Parliament in Chrisfcchureh." Carried. FINANCE. The Finance Committee reported that the total receipts for the past month had been : —From dog tax, £13 ; rates, £25 18s 6d ; rent, £225 ; pound fees, £7 15s Id ; Court fines, £7 2s 6d ; total, £276 IGj Id. mm overdraft at the Bank was £246 3s 2d. ; %&**

KAITANGATA BELIEF FUND
The Town Clerk stated that hc-liad recoived £3 10s 9d from the Ohoka and Eyreton Church towards tho Kaitangata Belief Fund RESIDENT ENGINEER'S REPORT $f:StVER. Resolved— " That the Govorn##nt be written to again, asking for a cosy- ;8£ Lthe report of tho Resident Engineer oh '^©J 1 damage done by tho encroachments of tHe river. In proposing the motion, Councillor I Pinching aaid he could not understand the Government not answering letters sent by order of tho Council. Ho thought it showed great want of courtesy. VIVB AND DBUM BAND NUISANCE. In answer to the Mayor, the Clerk said he had received no reply from the officer in command of No. 5 Company to his letter of March 20. j
There being no other business, the Counoil adjourned.
