The oußtomer was suoh a large buyer, that the worthy proprietor, contrary to usage, stepped forward to thank and to express a hope that the offioer was perfeotly aatiafledi and had been able to find everything fchafc he reouired. Tho captain thanked fche proprietor, and answered— "Nearly all." " Noli all P" waa (he quiok query of fche proSrietorj "nofc allP 1 hoped, Sir, we oould nd you everything." " Why, it ia a little out of your line, Mr — •* " Out of our lino P Not at all, Sir." " Oh, you are quite sure of thafc, are you, Mr P" ' « Quite certain, Sir." "Well, then,", continued fche captain, laughingly, " I want a wife." " Stop tbis way, Sir," and the astonished military man followed. He went through strange labyrinths, and up and down stairs innumerable. Un route the proprietor communicated these facta i— * About three or four montha prior, a beautiful, highly-educated girl, of an excellent family, who hod lost hor parents, and with them all reaourooa, applied to bim for employment. He had, after listening to her atory, though she waa a novioe to buainess, been touohed by her friendleaa aituation, and employed her. He hod not been disappointed. He had found her a worthy and exemplary girl. The captain was interested. He aaw and admired. He bought of hor, and introduced himself. He oame often, bought more, and upon inquiry, found all particulars to havo boen truthfully stated. On hor side, his mannor and appoaranoe pleasod the girl, and wljen he told hor tho story of how his last want had beon mentioned to tho proprietor of tho establishment, and been promptly met, it ended in a hearty laugh on both sides • bufc after a laugh, m three days they were married, and sho is on her way to India.
