ROAD BOARDS.

+ HEATHOOTB. The annual meeting wu held at the Bead Board Office, at noon, yesterday. Then wu a numerous attendance of ratepayer*. — Mr J. T. Fisher, Chairman of the Board, read the statement of account*. — Mr Peter Kerr condemned the action takes by the Board in doting up the Ferry road drain. The Chairman taid this wu done after repeated pablio meeting* of ratepayer*, and the filling op of the drain wy forced on the Board, fie did not think, however, that the cost ahoold come oat of the ratepayer*' pocket*. He had opposed this in the Provincial Council, as he did not think it fair.— Mr F.N. Campbell moved, after tome duoussion — "That the account*, a* read by the Ghainnan, be adopted, and that it be a recommendation to the Board in future to hare the statement of account* published in the papers, three days at least before the annual meeting g also, that a statement of assets and liabilities, be appended thereto." Mr fiopkin* seconded the motion, which was agreed to.— The Chairman uld the next boainess was the election of members of the Board for the enuring twelve months. — The following persocs were duly proposed and seconded: — Messrs Fisher, AUwood Laogdown, Olephane, Campbell, Kerr, Maning, and Dunoan. A show of hands then took place, with the following result :— Fisher 80 1 Attwood, 13 j Langdown, 17 ; Clephane, 10 j Campbell, 9j Eerr,l3» Manning, 15; and Duncan, 16. take place next day between the hoars of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mr F. Jones was appointed Returning Officer.— A vote of thanks to the Retiring Board and tho Chairman terminated the proceedings.— lt was stated that those who had not paid their rates could not vote.
