RIFLE MATCH.
♦ 1 A match between n.<: men of No. 2 Company Rifles and fiee of No. 6 took pi ice this ; morning. The conditions were, that none of : the men had ever represented his company in any competition, and that five shots be fired at 200, 300, and 400 yards, last range any position. The light was extremely bad at the first two ranges, as the sun, which at present rises nearly directly over the targets, shone with full vigour into the faces of the competitors. No. 6 Company proved victorious by 15 marks, all made at 200 yards. No. 2, as seen below, gained at the other two distance : —
