The Government have demanded that Todd's murderers should be given up. Manuhiri, on behalf of Tawhiao, has refused. He says that Todd was within their boundary, which he claims to be Maungatawhiri, thus including all the Waikato confiscated land.
Sub-Inspector Ferris and 27 Armed Constabulary arrived on Wednesday by the Phoebe. ,

The Government advertises for tenders for fortnightly steam mail services to various small settlements on the North Island Coast, such as Raglan and Poverty Bay. There will be four separate services. It is also intended to establish a coach service from Wanganui to New Plymouth, at £3000 a year for three years.
