TO THE ELECTORS OF
CANTERBURY. Come all ye electors, one and all, And listen unto me, j It's of two gentlemen in this town Whose opinions don't agree. They each are now contesting For six hundred pounds per year, And say it's for the people's good That in public they appear. If we believe their story, Then let us, like men, Go up into the polling place And vote for Moorhouse then. Rolleston, I do not doubt, la a very careful man ; To pave up money to do no good Is all bis scheme and plan. But Moorhouse makes the money fly, That all may have a share ; For public works, he is the boy, No idle winter here. No groups of idle men At the corners of the streets ; If you, my friends, pat Moorbouse in, We're sure to hare the sweets, J. S.D.
