CATHOLIC BOYS' SCHOOL, CHRISTCHURCH.
• ' .«. — ■ The annual examination for prizes in the abovenamed school has taken place during the week, and the pupils assembled yesterday to ascertain the result and greet the successful ones. The prizes were presented by the Rev. F. Chevrier. He expressed himself pleased with the examination, and the manner in which it was conducted. After a few hours' play in the vicinity of the school, the children separated by giving three hearty cheers for the Rev. donor and the schoolmaster. The prize list is as follows : — First Cla6s. — Arithmetic, Dictation, and Reading, John Barrett, I ; History and Geography, Frank Sheath, 2; General Proficiency, Frank Hyman, 3 ; Heading, Dictation, and Grammar, Martin Cusack, 4. Second Class. — Grammar, Geography, and Arithmetic, Alfred 1 ; Reading and Writing, Joseph Serjeant, 2 ; Arithmetic, John Whelan, 3. Second Class. — Second Division— Reading and Writing, Richard Savage, 1 ; Spelling and Arithmetic, Patrick Malley, 2 ; General Proficiency, Francis Harry, 3 ; Spelling and Tables, John Murphy, 4. Third Class. — Arithmetic and Spelling, Edward Dethier, 1 ; Heading and Writing, William Crounin, 2 ; Spelling, Charles Courtney, 3. Third Class. — Second Division — Reading, Spelling, arid Tables, David Kennedy, 1 ; General Answering, William Casein, 2. Fourth Class. — Reading and Spelling, Stephen Serjeant ; Good Conduct, John Begley ; General Attendance, Leslie Manning.
