CONVENT SCHOOL, CHRISTCHURCH.

The Christmas examination for prizes has been conducted in the above school during the last three days, and the distribution took place yesterday. The prizes were supplied partly by the Superioress of the Convent, and partly by the Rev. F. Cbevrier. The school, now under the management of the sisters, was neatly and artistically decorated with flowers and evergreens, presenting a favourable contrast with the dear and intelligent countenances of the pupils, now numbering 125. After some words of encouragement from the Rev. F. Cheyrier, he proceeded to distribute the prizes in the following order: — French, Mary Loughnan. Music, Mary Loughnan, Ist; Margaret Donnelly, 2nd. Plain and ornamental needlework, Mary Fitzgerald Ist; Gertrude Sheath, 2nd. General good conduct, Mary Ann Holly. Order and punctuality, Catherine Mclntosh. Diligence, Agnes Orme. General improvement, Letitia Brown. First Class.— History and English, Margaret Harrington, Ist j Mary A. Whelan, 2nd; Mary A. Holly, 3rd; Catherine Macintosh, 4th; Mary Harrington, sth. Second Class. — General Proficiency, Gertrude Sheath, Ist; Emily Carruthers, 2nd. Third Class.— English and History, Mary Roach, Ist; Catherine Donnelly, 2nd. Fourth Class. — Reading and Spelling, Martha Dynes, Ist; Julia Howard, 2nd. Fifth Class. — Reading and Writing, Ann Smith, Ist; Ellen Duffy, 2nd.
