The s.s. Wainui, Capt. Leys, arrived iv harbour this morning, from Dunedin, via intermediate ports. She sailed for the same jfcrts this afternoon. * McMeckax, Blackwood and Co 's s.s. Rungitoto, Capt. Mackie, arrived in harbour this morning, at 7 o'clock, from Melbourne, via West Coast Ports and Wellington. The following is the captain's report : — " The -tf-ingitoto left Hobsoif s Bay at 4.50 p.m. on Nov. 22; passed through the heads at 7.18 p.m., with a strong head wind; was abreast Wilson's Promontory at 3.15 a.m. on Nov. _}••?; from thence to the New Zeal .nd coast had strong head winds and thick weather, v/ith heavy head seas; sighted the land at i- a.m. on Nov. 28, blowing a gale of wind, which moderated at 8 a.m.; anchored at 10 .a.m. off Hokitika; was tendered by Ihe s.s. Persevere in 'he afternoon; transhipped uiails and passengers; at 6 p.m. transhipped cargo into the s.s. Waipara; left for Nelsou At 6.30 pm. on Nov. 2d, arriving there at Si'"!) p.m. on Nov. 30; experienced strong head winds all the way; landed passengers and cargo, and left for Wellington . at 6.30 ami. on Dec. 2, arriving at 3.45 p.m. the same day; landed passengers and cargo, and sailed for Lyttelton at 2.38 p.m., arriving as above."
