[by electbio telegbaph.J Wellington, April 18, 5.20 p.m. Col. Whifcmore's field force marched from Patea to Waitara without discovering any trace of Tito. It has been decided to send 400 of them to the East Coast via Auckland, to join the force against Kooti, and they are now in the course of removal. Col. Whitmore, Dr. Pollen, and Mr Richmond, are at Auckland making arrangements to forward them thence to the East Coast. The Ngatiporous under Col. Lyons remain to garrison Patea. The Arawas remain at Taranaki. The Challenger sails for the East Coast to-morrow. Tenders are invited, prior to June 1, for 12 monthly mail services by the following routes : — Melbourne and Wellington via Hokitika ; Melbourne and Port Chalmers via Bluff; Melbourne and Auckland ; Melbourne and Manakau ; Sydney and Auckland; Sydney and Manakau. The Prince and the Governor left for Nelson early yesterday morning. The Gazette contains a proclamation from the Governor, warning British subjects against taking military service under Thakombau King of Bau, Fiji, as invited in a notice stated as about to be issued by the so-called Chief Secretary at Bau. Those who do, render themselves liable to prosecution. \ • The Wellington Militia is released from actual service. Powers under the protection ; to Animals Act are delegated to the Superintendent of Otago. The Proclamation of the Superintendent of Canterbury, under the Diseased Cattle Act, dated April 1, has been assented to by the Governor. Napier, April 18, 5 p.m. The Star of the South has arrived from Auckland. The St Kilda, on Sunday, and the Sturfc, on Monday arrived from Taranaki with the Constabulary which were despatched for Tauranga, in the Ashley and Star of the Soutt. Colonel Whitmore is going in the latter. Three hundred troops, now in Auckland, are en route for Taupo. A non-political dinner was given to Colonel Whitmore on Wednesday. The shipment of gold from the banks for the current fortnight was 12,000 ounces. Ensign Hamilton has arrived at Taupo. The news of the pah being taken is without foundation, but the interior it very unsettled. Captain Richardson's troop has been ordered from Mohaka to Taupo via Petane. The first-class militia is still in camp. . Dunedin, April 18, 5.32 p.m. Mr Burns, the Provincial Secretary! has resigned. Skyonian is the favourite for the Duke of Edinburgh Cup.
