Latest Telegrams.

[■BY ELECIBIC TELEG-RilPH:.] Wellington, March 4, 7.21 p.m. The Government have received a telegram from Mr M'Lean,, of. , Napier, to the effect that a half-eaaie member of the Constabulary, \vh'o has been to Taupo, states that Te Kooti with from 200 to 300 meu, is encamped at a place called Waiokete, and that Rewi with 700 meu, is marching through Ngaruroro Gorge to join him. There is not much dependence to be placed on this report. Eewi is known to be ia the Taupo country, awaiting a great meeting of Kingites to be held this month, when the question of war or peace is to be decided* The friendly natives there Tear treachery, but Rewi has Warned his people against outrages, and the Government has warned frieridlies against proceeding with surveys. The land question is the cause of dispute. Another native story telegraphed by Mr McLean is, that Te Kooti and Nikora have both been seen in Uriwera since the capture of Ngatapa, that very few natives .were killed there, and that Te Kooti had returned to Ngatapa. This is evidently false, as Nikora's body, was found and identified by his, .wife and sister. A rifle match between Westland and Wellington Volunteers was fired yesterday. The ranges were 200, 500, and 600 yards ; 21 shots ; ten men on each side. Westlaud scored 409, Wellington 428.
