HIGH SCHOOL, LYTTELTON.
v The annual examination of the scholars took place this morning in ' the schoolroom, in the presence of the Rev J. Mcintosh,' chairman of directors, his Worship the Mayor, and a large nnmber of the parents. The. room had been tastefully decorated with floral wreaths and evergreens by the scholars, and on a table were exhibted ah excellent selection of books to be distributed as prizes. The junior classes were examined by MrD. i Thomson, second master, and many of the scholars shewed great proficiency in the various branches. The upper classes were examined by Mr J. Ross, first master. It was evident from the answers given that great attention had been paid to the various studies. The specimens of penmanship were excellent. At the conclusion of the examination, His Worship addressed the scholars, and expressed his pleasure at the proficiency shewn by them. He concluded by distributing the prizes.
