The following information, received in a telegram addressed to the Hon J. Hall, has been placed at our disposal :-— * " A letter (pauai), from King Tawhiao himself, has been received by Hau-hau Natives at Kangitikei, Otaki, and other places, to the. same effect aa in January last ; that the swdrd was to be sheathed, etc. " A messenger also brought a verbal message — " Ngatiraukawa takoti" (Ngatiraukawa remain quiet). " The Princess Sophia sent a letter by the same messenger, saying this is the year for all the Maoris to sleep. " Mr McLean reports tbe number of the enemy killed, altogether, to be more than 100. " Capt Tanner reports 60 rifles taken from Te Kooti, and a large quantity of ammunition. ' Enemy badly off for food, and in great distress."
