PUBLIC BATHS.
The following is the prospectus of the proposed Public Bathing Club: — 1. The Club to consist of Mayor, as President, and a committee of eight* half chosen by subscribers, nnd half by City Council (the committee to appoint all officers). 2. Subscribers of 20s and upwards entitled to 20 firat-class tickets during the first season, and be eligible as members of committee. Subscribers of 10s entitled to ten first-class tickets. r . . 3. That the cost of the building be defrayed by public subscriptions. 4. That the terms of admission to the baths be:— l. T,o persons requiring towels and other articles the property of the Club, 6d (sixpence). 2. To persona bringing such articles with them, 3d (threepence). 5. That season or monthly tickets be issued at rates to be agreed on by the committee.. 6. That the proceeds resulting from the use of the baths be devoted in the first instance to the payment of all expenses incurred in the maintenance of the same. 7. The custodian of tho baths to be in attendance during hours to be specified by the committee, and to be charged with the care of towels and other properties of the club ; be required to wash and mangle the toweis daily, and keep all bathing requirements, such aa dresses, brushes, &c, in proper order ; to receive fees, and to pay the same daily to the treasurer; and to net generally under instructions to be issued from time to time by the committee of management. . . ■ ! 8. That as soon as the cost of the building has been liquidated it may become the property of the City Council, upon the understanding that it is to be kept in repair, and that it continues to be devoted to the purposes originally intended. 9. The City Council to supplement subscriptions by 25 per cent, of the amount collected up to £200.
