Constable Eares said he'was sent for to a house in the Papanui Koad; which prisoner had entered in a state or intoxication and' threatened to burn down. Prisoner admitted the offence, but pleaded that having bad a glass or two to drink he did not know what he waß doing. His Worship said intoxication was no excuse for sucb unwarrantable conduct, and imposed a fine of 20s. Assault.—Edward M'Courfc was brought up in custody, charged with having aisaulted his wife on the 13th inst. Complainant said she wished to withdraw the case, as prisoner had promised amendment, and she had reason to believe he would keep it. His Worship said he hoped such would be the case, as it • was much preferable to having to com-! Mit prisoner, and .dismissed the case. j
