The hon. treasurer (Mr Scarhrough) laH an audited balancesheet before the meeting, from which it appeared that the total receipts for the Regatta sports of 1867 wa^ fifty-three pounds three shillings, whilst the expenditure was fifty pounds fourteen shillings, leaving a balance in hand of two pounds nine shillings. Lyttelton Borough Council. — The weekly meeting of this Council is postponed until to-morrow evening, at 7 o'clock. Cricket. — A match — Lincoln against Templeton and Prebbleton — sections of the United Lincoln clubs, was played ion the grounds of the Prebbleton club, on vThursday. The weather was all that could "H^e desired, the ground was in ; very good trim, and the players, although evincing a great want of practice, were in as good ! mettle as could be expected. The match resulted in an easy victory for the Lincoln men, who scored 99 in their first and 82 in j their second innings, making a total of 181. I The Prebbleton and Templeton men scored 52 in their first and 29 in their second innings. i Lyttkltox Land, Buiivding, attd Investment Societt. —The adjourned annual meeting of the Lyttelton Land, Building, and Investment Society, No. 2, was held on Saturday, the 7th inst., Mr C. H. Woledge in the chair. The balance-sheet, audited by j Messrs E. A. Hargreaves, A. Bayfield, and , D. Caro, was received and adopted, as also the third annual report. The latter stated I that though the fall in the value of property in the province had affected the society, it was to a very inconsiderable extent ; it had not interfered with its continued prosperity. In reference to a practice that had arisen, of members paying subscriptions, &c, to the credit of the society at their bankers', it was resolved that the practice of receiving money after the hours appointed for that purpose be discontinued, as such practice is prejudicial to the Society. Theatre Rotal. — The first week of the season terminated on Saturday night with the "Corsican Brothers," which was played to a moderate house. In the stalls and pit more especially there was a noticeable improvement in the attendance ; it could hardly have been expected that the dress circle would be fully patronised, for Saturday night is known by managers to be the worst of the six for this part of the house. A considerable period had elapsed since the " Corsican Brothers" was represented here, and this was one reason, perhaps, why the audience was more numerous than on previous evenings. Those who did attend were highly pleased with the performances, to judge from the enthusiasm which they displayed at intervals during the progress of the piece. A great share of its success was due to the scenery, painted by Mr W. J. Wilson, the lessee, to the smoothness and rapidity with which the scenes were shifted, and to the mechanical arrangements, which were attended to "with great care by those who had this department in their charge. The apparition scenes were capitally represented, and the whole performance drew forth thunders of applause. The whole company sustained their respective characters very creditably. Mr Bartlett acted the Brothers ; Miss Dolly Green appeared as Madame de Lesparre, Mr Roberts as Reynaud, and Mr Wilson as Colonna. The afterpiece was equally a success in every point of view. Tom Taylor's comedy, in three acts, " The Babes in the Wood," and the capital farce " Cool as a Cucumber " constitute the programme for to-night, when ( Mr Wilmot, the comedian and burlesque actor, will appear for the first time. Lincoln Faiii < ommittek. — The committee met on Thursday evening, r Knight occupying the chair. The Secretary was called upon to read the statement of receipts and expenditure at the last fair, and from this, it appeared that the following stock had been entered : — 134 cattle at Is, £6 Us ; 12 horses at 2s 6d, £1 10s ; 1900 sheep, £3 2s 9d ; implements, 9s ; 6 pigs, Is 6d. Subscription from committee, £5 10s 6d ; total, £17 7s 9d. Of this amount, the sum of £14 11s 3d had been expended, leaving a balance in hand of £2 16s 6d. It was decided that, as a condition to the next fair being held at the Wheat Sheaf, Mr Laurence be called upon to erect the hurdles, &c, free of coat, to the committee, but under their superintendence. Complaints having been made as to Mr Lawrence's charges at the hotel, and as this was likely to act prejudicially to the fair, the committee requested him to draw up a scale of charges to be approved by them, the same to be advertised and posted up on the fair field. It was also decided that a better water supply was necessary, and it was I agreed to remedy this. The scale of fair fees was altered, and the price of entry for horses reduced from 2s 6d to Is, for cattle over ten head from Is to 9d. The committee having been given to understand that the i Leeston farmers would be likely to cooperate with them, determined to invite some of their leading men, requesting them to act with them, and the following names were added to the committee : — Messrs Ffitch, Gardener, Woodman, J. Smith, Bridge, and Blackler ; also, Messrs J. Murray, Guild, Lawry, Bradley, Birdling, Gebbie, ami Cordy. A good deal of discussion arose as to the dates of the fairs for next year, and ultimately, the third Tuesday in January, April, July, and October, was fixed upon. The Chairman said he was quite sure they would al agree that a cordial vote of thanks should be accorded to the secretary for his trouble about the last fair. A vote of thanks was accordingly presented to that gentleman. And it was also resolved that the thanks of the committee be i resented to Messrs Marchant, Williams, Dawson, and Slater, jun , for lending hurdles and other assistance. A working committee was appointed to assist the secretary in making the arrangements for the next fair, the same to consist of Messrs. archan-, Lawry, Slater, Craighead and Knight. Ihe Lincoln fair may now be said to have become an institution in the neighbourhood, and the committee seem determined to remedy any defects that experience may have pointed out. The number of influential men of which the committee is composed is also a very good earuebt of continued success. All work with a will, and believe that the next fair will be as successful as the first.

Excursions. — The s.s. Gazelle started this morning, at 6.30 on an excursion to Kaiapoi and the encampment. The p.s. Betsy Douglas also started on an excursion to Port Levy. I Spreydon District. — The meeting of the committee for the purpose of making arrangements for the holding of a Fair in this district, will be held at the Spreydon Hotel, on Mhursday the 12th inst., at 7 p.m. Lkcture.— The Rev ¥. Knowles will deliver a lecture in the Girls' New Schoolroom, Rangiora, to-morrow, Tuesday evening, on ] " The Search for Sir John Franklin." The lecture will be illustrated with magic lantern views.
