Apparent transactions in public securities are rather restricted. Terms for discount rule low. The doubts expressed with regard to maintenance of peace on the Continent have rather unsettled the market. The bank rates for discount vary from If to If percent. On the Stock Exchange, short loans on Euglish securities are easily arranged at 1 to 1£ per cent. Colonial Government securities are steady, but business is very light. Consols for money 93^ to £ . Ditto account 93£. New Zealand, 5 per cent, 97£ to 98 i. New South Wales, 5 per cent bonds, 1875, 95| to 100. Queensland Government, 5 to 6 per cents, 105£ to 106. Victorian 6 per cents, 113 fto 114|.
